Harvard Study Shows Fish Aids Babies’ Brain Development
Home

Findings of Harvard study shows mothers who eat fish twice a week during pregnancy have children who perform better in cognitive tests. Research was conducted on over 300 children at age three with mothers who consumed fish more than twice a week during their second trimester. The test results show better performance in language and motor skills. Pregnant women are urged to consume certain types of fish, such as tuna, which are richer in fatty acids (omega-3) and contain less mercury. The study also shows the importance of the types of fish consumed—canned tuna being a good choice due to its higher omega-3 and lower mercury content.
